Founded by Lexi Nolda, Operation Sun Safe is an extension of her Service Initiative Be Sun Smart: Healthy Skin Is In. Operation Sun Safe was created in 2023 to fill the need for access to sun protection in outdoor community areas. Skin cancer awareness and prevention is vital to the health of all Nebraskans, and one simple step like wearing sunscreen at the swimming pool can save countless lives in the future. Lexi is a graduate of The University of Nebraska Lincoln with a Bachelors of Science in Education and Human Sciences. Lexi plans to obtain her BSN and is currently serving as Miss Nebraska 2026. She raises awareness for skin cancer and educates on the importance of sun safety through her Community Service Initiative; Be Sun Smart: Healthy Skin Is In, and her work in the healthcare field.
